Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about replacing your windows or doors? Below are answers to the questions Northcrest hears most often from homeowners across Southern New Hampshire. If you don’t see your question here, give Michael a call at (603) 421-4461 or send a message through our Contact page.

What areas do you serve?

Northcrest Window & Door Specialists is based in Derry, NH and serves homeowners throughout Southern New Hampshire, including Derry, Londonderry, Windham, Salem, Hudson, Manchester, Nashua, Bedford, Auburn, Hampstead, Atkinson, Pelham, Plaistow, and Chester. If you live in a nearby Southern NH town not listed here, give us a call — there’s a good chance we cover it.

What window and door brands do you install?

We install Andersen windows and ProVia entry doors. Both are well-built, well-supported brands with strong manufacturer warranties, and we’ve chosen them because they hold up beautifully in the New Hampshire climate.

What is full-frame replacement, and why does Northcrest only do it that way?

Full-frame replacement means we remove the entire old window or door, including the frame, down to the rough opening. We inspect the framing, address any rot or hidden damage, properly insulate and air-seal the opening, and then install a brand-new, full-size window or door. The alternative — “insert” or “pocket” replacement — leaves the old frame in place and shrinks your glass area, and it can hide moisture or insulation problems. Northcrest only does full-frame replacement so you get the best long-term performance and the most light and view possible.

Do you offer free estimates and consultations?

Yes. Every project starts with a free, in-home consultation. Owner Michael Holzman comes out personally, takes accurate measurements, listens to what you want from your windows or doors, and gives you straight answers about your options.

How long does a typical window or door installation take?

Most windows are installed in roughly an hour each once we’re on site, and a typical whole-house window project is completed in one to three days depending on how many openings are involved. A standard entry door or patio door usually takes most of a day. We’ll give you a clear day-by-day schedule before we start, and we leave the worksite clean each day.

What does the process look like from first call to finished installation?

It’s straightforward. First, you call or message us and we schedule a free in-home consultation. Michael measures your openings, talks through your goals and options, and prepares a written, custom quote. Once you approve the quote, we order your windows or doors and schedule your install date. On installation day(s), our crew shows up on time, protects your floors and furniture, removes the old units, performs full-frame installation, cleans up, and walks you through the finished work.

What styles of windows and doors do you install?

All the common styles and then some. For windows, that includes double-hung, casement, awning, picture, bay and bow, sliders, and specialty shapes. For doors, we install ProVia entry doors in fiberglass and steel, plus sliding patio doors and French patio doors. We’ll help you pick a style, color, glass package, and hardware that fits your home and your budget.

What warranty do you offer?

You’re covered two ways. Your windows and doors come with the full Andersen and ProVia manufacturer warranties, which protect the products themselves. On top of that, Northcrest backs our installation with a 5-year labor warranty — if something we did isn’t right, we come back and make it right.

Do you offer financing?

Yes. We offer financing through Hearth, which lets you check your rate online without affecting your credit score and choose a monthly payment that fits your budget. We’re happy to walk you through the options during your in-home consultation.

How much does a window or door replacement cost?

Every project is custom-quoted after a free in-home consultation. Pricing depends on the number of openings, the window or door style and series you choose, the glass package, any framing or trim work needed, and the size and shape of each opening. We’ll measure everything in person and give you a written, itemized quote so you know exactly what you’re paying for.

What is your current lead time?

Right now, the typical timeline from a signed quote to install day is about 8 to 10 weeks. Most of that is the time it takes for Andersen or ProVia to build your custom-sized units to order. Lead times can shift seasonally, so we’ll give you the most current estimate at the time of your consultation.

Are you fully insured? Do you have any certifications?

Yes. Northcrest Window & Door Specialists is fully insured in New Hampshire, and we’re EPA Lead-Safe RRP certified — which is important if your home was built before 1978. We’re happy to provide proof of insurance and certification on request.

Do you haul away the old windows and doors?

Yes. Cleanup and disposal are included. We haul away your old windows and doors and all of the related debris, so you don’t have to deal with a pile of old units in your driveway when we’re done.

Do you work on historic homes or custom-shape windows like arches and half-rounds?

Absolutely. We work on older and historic Southern NH homes, and we install custom-shape windows including arches, half-rounds, octagons, and other specialty shapes — in addition to standard rectangular replacements. If you have a unique opening, bring us photos and measurements during your consultation and we’ll talk through the options.
